Mahapola Education and Trade fair Exhibition will be held at the Ruhunu Vijayaba MV in Beliatta from 14 to 18 October 2009.Evillage stall will be opened from 14 and daily from 2 pm to 10 pm.EKSP of the Ministry of Education has provide sponsorship for this and monitored by Southern province Education Department and Zonal Education office at Tangalle.Wee would like invite all of you to come and visit our stall to get different kind of experience of IT and the society.

Recently we established a video team which will enable us to meet growing demand for video editing and 3D Animation. Currently one of our students is following this kind of training. Though it is difficult to acquire a video camera, one  of our Donor Mr Gerd from Germany Donated a video camera for our organization. This Donation would definitely boost our work and our committee appreciated much this donation.

Our prominent target is to train students for video filming and create qualified team. It has been known that IT skills can be converted to any form to make income for them.

Therefore we as a rural IT facilitator in Hambantota District intended to improve IT in Nihiluwa village. .We successfully started a small scale BPO and now five school leavers from Nihiluwa suburb are generating income.

Volunteers those who are willing to help is highly appreciated, if they can conduct video filming workshop for our students.

Krishan Chathuranga De Silva young, skilled, dedicated and disciplined student of Ruhunulanka Foundation now in Colombo for further training as a Animator, Graphic Designer and Video editor. He starts to learn computer from Nihiluwa School and later joined with Evillage programme.At the first stage he was proved his dedication for this programme and within the short period, he won a PC from a Donor who is living in Canada .Krishan named as a best Blogger in Ruhunulanka Foundation. He always actively involved with Evillage programme.. Now He wants a laptop (used) for this training and He has to bear his expenses in Colombo. We strictly believed that He will firmly on his target. Therefore we would like to welcome Donors those who can give a help for this student to achieve his targets. To make our organization’s sustainability, it has been long felt need for our Foundation to start a BPO. Now we have completed the basic requirements for this project and have trained staff with responsibilities.

Therefore we would like to welcome your help to start a BPO which will help our students to generate an income for their own expenses. This also be a grate answer for lack of job opportunities in village levels.   Our staff consisted with web designers, Animators,and Scanning , Type setting skills and they have their own Blogs to communicate with the world.

We have a fully equipped computer lab with 3.6 Mbps internet connection.

For the first time in Hambantota District we successfully established Wi-Fi zone in Nihiluwa Public School. Now our students can access internet anywhere in the school premises using wireless enabled computers and Laptops.Under the Intel Teach programme Intel will  provide 20 class mate pc for our students.This will enable our students to surf information through internet in classroom.

With the objective of providing an opportunity for school childrans,school leavers,and the general public in Nihiluwa,to enhance their knowledge on the ICT We as a best rural computer facilitator starts new computer lab with five computers ,a printer,a scanner and the fast internet connection. This lab was given by the East West Information system as a Donation. Internet connection was given by the one of our Donor from Germany Mr,Gerd Gilles.

This new unit was established in the Nihiluwa Temple premises as a temporary base. Within One year we have to find or build a place to shift this lab. It is the need of the hour to focus more on ICT field. There for our committee intend to starts classes for villagers and the school leavers. Decision also has been taken to provide Internet facility for less charge. This will help villagers to find information through internet.

Donors and well-wishers can donate used computers to expand our duties and funds to construct a new room for us.

This is a visit report by one of our Donor from Germany on 21 and 22 January.

A visit report about Nihiluwa Ruhunulanka Foundation.

I met them by internet some time ago. As I was sometimes in

their area in the years before, I was very interested to see what they do

at Ruhunulanka.

I have had an e-mail exchange with Amal Gunarwardene, the founder of

Ruhunulanka. My first impression was, there is a teacher who is very interested

to teach IT to his students. After my visit I can say only with his struggle for

all things, Ruhunulanka is on a successful way. A country like SL should be happy

to have such dedicated teacher.

I work as a production manager in an electronic company in Germany, so

I was very keen to see what they are doing in the IT field in Nihiluwa.

On 21st and 22nd January 2009 I had the opportunity to make a visit in Nihiluwa.

We have had an e-mail exchange very often, but have never met in reality.

So it was an exciting moment for me to meet my “cyber friends” the very first time.

I could see some power point presentations of them about what they are doing in the

IT field. I was very surprised to see that all of them are good in English and experts in

Internet and IT. I did never expect this in a rural area like Nihiluwa.

I think they deserve all support for further development of Ruhunulanka, so it was

a pleasure for me to help them with a small donation.

But there is one point I missed. In Germany we have an exchange of schools and companies, we visit us each other. So on this way every side can learn about the

expectations of the other side. Pupils can learn what companies are looking for,

which skills are on demand and so on. Companies can have a look into what schools

are doing.

I think it would be very helpful if some companies can pay a visit in Ruhunulanka

and have an exchange of thoughts there. Both sides will learn a lot from each other.

At the end of my visit, I am convinced that they will be successful on their way in

the IT future.
